Overview
When you finish a livestream, it’s important to properly turn off your streaming channel. If you leave it running, the channel will remain live, continue consuming resources, and additional costs will incur. It can also leave your audience seeing an empty broadcast.
Pre-requisites
You already have a livestream that has been up and running for some time. Your next step is to end the livestream by following the correct procedure.
Method 1:
When you're ready to end the Live stream > click End Broadcast in the top right corner.
An End Broadcast modal will pop up and you'll have the two following methods to safetly end the livestream:
- Allow the 60-second timer to reach zero. The livestream will end for all viewers, and the server will shut down safely. This method is recommended as it gives viewers time to catch up if they are slightly behind (up to 60 seconds).
Method 2:
- Once the Modal pops up you have one more option, to click End Now in the bottom right of the modal:
- Click End Now in the bottom right of the modal to stop the livestream immediately. This option is generally used if the stream has been left running unintentionally.
