In Webcastcloud Live Studio, hosts can select layouts and add sources to the live stage once they go live.
If you would like a holding slide (e.g. “Starting Soon”) to appear immediately when your stream begins, this requires a slightly different setup using Screen Share.
Below is the recommended approach.
Before You Begin
Make sure you have already:
Prepared your live streaming server
Connected to Live Studio as a host
Add and test your required sources (camera, microphone, etc.)
Refer to the full setup guide here: Run a Live Stream
Recommended Approach for a Holding Slide
Step 1 - Prepare Your Slide
Create your holding slide in PowerPoint (or similar).
If you want a “Starting Soon” slide, we recommend including this as the first slide in your presentation deck.
Step 2 - Add Screen Share as a Source
In Live Studio:
Enter the studio and connect your devices.
Add a Screen Share source from your computer.
Share the window displaying your PowerPoint holding slide.
Confirm the Screen Share appears in your Backstage sources.
At this point, your holding slide should be visible backstage but not yet live.
Step 3 – Go Live
Once everything is ready:
The host selects Go Live.
Immediately after going live, select your layout from the bottom menu.
Choose the Panel layout (recommended).
Add your Screen Share (holding slide) to the stage.
Why Use the Panel Layout?
When using the Panel layout with only one source published to the stage:
The single source (your holding slide) will display full screen to viewers.
No other speakers or sources will appear.
This creates a clean, professional “Starting Soon” experience.
When You're Ready to Begin Presenting
When it’s time to start presenting, you can either:
Advance your PowerPoint to the next slide, or
Change your Screen Share source, or
Add your speakers/camera sources to the stage
Switch layouts if required
Your holding slide will then transition smoothly into your live presentation.
Important Notes
The holding slide must be shared via Screen Share.
Live Studio does not automatically publish a pre-configured holding slide when you go live.
Always test your layout and sources before your event starts.
