This guide explains how to enable and configure CPD credit write-back from Webcastcloud to MembesAMS.
This article assumes your Membes SSO and API integration is already configured and working.
Overview
Webcastcloud can automatically send completed CPD/CE activities from videos or courses back to Membes via the CPDActivityLog API.
This supports:
Single or multiple credit types per activity
Mapping of Webcastcloud content to Membes CPD categories
Automatic write-back once a user completes the required criteria
Credits are sent for users authenticated via Membes SSO only.
Before You Start
Please contact Webcastcloud Support before enabling write-back so we can confirm:
Your Membes CPD categories, activity ID and credit structure
The correct mapping between Webcastcloud credit types and Membes points.
That your environment is ready for testing
Write-back should not be enabled until mapping has been verified.
Step 1 — Confirm Required Information from Membes
You will need:
Membes API access enabled
CPDActivityLog endpoint available
Valid Category IDs for each credit type
Profile ID available via SSO login
Confirmation of how many credit types are required (single vs multiple)
Step 2 — Configure Write-Back in Webcastcloud
Log in to Webcastcloud Admin
Go to Settings → Integrations
Edit your Membes integration
Enable: Write Back CE Credits
Set: Send Credits From Date
Only credits achieved after this date will be sent to Membes.
This prevents historical records being re-sent.Save changes
Important: Do not enable this setting until credit mapping has been confirmed with Webcastcloud Support.
Step 3 — Configure Credit Mapping
Each video or course that should issue CPD must have credit values configured.
For each activity, we map:
Activity Name → Title of video/course
ActivityID → Content type or mapped ID
Category ID → Provided by Membes
Points → Primary credit value
If multiple credit types are required, additional fields can be mapped:
Points1
Points2
Points3
etc.
These allow a single activity to issue multiple credit types (for example: CPD + Ethics hours).
Mapping is configured by Webcastcloud Support during setup.
Step 4 — How Write-Back Works
User logs in via Membes SSO
User completes a video or course
Completion triggers CPD credit logic
Webcastcloud sends activity to Membes CPDActivityLog API
Membes records the CPD against the user profile
Once successfully sent:
The activity is marked as “credit sent” in Webcastcloud analytics
Credits will not be sent again for that activity
Data Sent to Membes
The following fields are written to the CPDActivityLog API:
Name — title of video or course
Category ID — CPD category in Membes
Date — date credit achieved
Profile — user Profile ID
ActivityID — mapped content/activity ID
Points — primary credit value
Additional Points fields — for multiple credit types
Testing
We recommend testing with a small set of users first.
Testing steps:
Enable write-back in a test environment
Complete a test activity
Confirm credit appears in Membes
Verify category and credit values
Confirm duplicate credits are not sent
Webcastcloud Support can assist with testing.
Troubleshooting
Credits not appearing in Membes usually relate to:
Incorrect Category ID
Missing Profile ID
Mapping not configured
Write-back enabled before setup
Activity completed before “Send Credits From Date”
If unsure, contact Webcastcloud Support with:
User email
Activity title
Date completed
Important Notes
Write-back only works for users authenticated via Membes SSO
Historical credits can be sent if required, but must be handled manually
Changes to credit types require mapping updates
Credits are sent once per activity per user
