Overview
If you are using Webcastcloud to manage billing, invoices are sent directly from the platform using your own branding and messaging.
By default, Stripe may also send invoice and payment emails to your customers — which can result in duplicate emails being sent for the same transaction.
To ensure a consistent client experience and avoid confusion, we recommend disabling Stripe’s customer-facing invoice emails.
Why disable Stripe emails?
When Stripe emails are enabled, your clients may receive:
- An invoice email from Webcastcloud (your branded email)
- A second invoice or receipt email directly from Stripe
This can lead to:
- Confusion about which invoice to pay
- Duplicate records in client inboxes
- A less professional / inconsistent brand experience
What should be disabled in Stripe
Stripe has multiple email settings across Payments and Billing. To fully prevent duplicate invoice emails, check the following:
1. Disable payment receipt emails
In Stripe:
- Go to Settings → Customer emails → Payments
- Turn OFF:
- Successful payments
- Email customers for payments (receipts)
2. Disable invoice emails
- Go to Settings → Billing → Invoices
- Turn OFF:
- Send finalized invoices to customers
- Send payment receipts for invoices
3. Disable subscription emails (optional)
If you are using, or planning to use subscriptions:
- Go to Settings → Billing → Subscriptions → Customer emails
- Review (and typically turn OFF) all email notifications
Important:
Before disabling these, we recommend speaking with the Webcastcloud team to confirm the best approach for your setup.
Depending on your use case, you may choose to:
- Use Stripe subscriptions and invoicing, or
- Manage subscriptions and billing directly through Webcastcloud
Each approach has different implications for:
- Customer communication
- Invoice branding
- Payment flows
We can help you determine the best option and ensure emails are configured correctly to avoid duplication.
Important notes
- These settings only affect emails sent directly from Stripe - they do not impact payment processing.
- Payments will continue to be processed securely via Stripe.
- All client-facing communication should instead be handled through Webcastcloud.
Additional considerations
In some cases, Stripe emails may still be triggered if:
- An invoice is manually sent from the Stripe dashboard
- An integration explicitly triggers invoice sending via the Stripe API
- Subscription settings are enabled
If you are unsure, we recommend reviewing a recent email and confirming whether it originated from Stripe or Webcastcloud.
