Webcastcloud – iMIS CE Credit Activity Integration
⚠️ Important – Test First
We strongly recommend configuring and testing CE credit write-back in your iMIS TEST environment first.
This ensures your data mapping, activity templates, and credit rules are configured correctly before enabling production write-backs.
Testing first helps avoid:
Multiple unnecessary credit write-backs
Incorrect activity data being recorded in iMIS
Failed write-backs due to incorrect mapping or configuration
Once your configuration has been validated in TEST, the same settings can then be applied to your Production environment.
Overview
The Webcastcloud → iMIS CE Credit Activity integration allows completed learning activities (such as webinars or videos) to automatically write Continuing Education (CE/CPD) credits back to your iMIS environment.
When a user meets the required completion criteria (such as watching a required percentage of a video or passing a quiz), Webcastcloud will send the CE activity data to iMIS during the scheduled analytics job or on event completion.
To enable CE credit write-back, the following components must be configured:
iMIS integration settings
CE credit field mapping
CE activity templates
Video activity configuration
Step 1 - Configure the iMIS Write-Back Settings
Navigate to:
Admin → Integrations → iMIS → Edit
Configure the following fields.
Write Back CE Path
https://www.{yourdomain.org}/api
This is the API endpoint used to send CE activity records to your iMIS environment.
Send Credits From Date
dd/mm/yyyy
This setting controls which completed activities will be sent to iMIS.
Only credits achieved on or after this date will be written back.
Credits achieved before this date will not be sent to iMIS.
This is useful when enabling the integration for the first time to prevent historical credits from being sent.
Save Settings
After entering the values above, click Save.
You can then proceed to configure the CE Credit Mapping.
Step 2 - Configure CE Credit Mapping
In the iMIS integration settings, configure the following CE Credit Mapping fields.
These mappings determine how Webcastcloud activity data is sent to iMIS activity records.
| Property Name | Property Value | Dynamic Column |
|---|---|---|
| ACTION_CODES | Watched Duration | True |
| ACTIVITY_TYPE | ContentType | True |
| CATEGORY | CreditType | True |
| DESCRIPTION | Video Title | True |
| PartyId | CustomerId | True |
| SOURCE_SYSTEM | WCC | False |
| UF_1 | Percentage Watched | True |
| UF_2 | Quiz Points Available | True |
| UF_3 | Quiz Points Achieved | True |
| UNITS | Credits | True |
| Username | UserName | True |
Notes
Most of the fields above map to standard iMIS activity fields.
Fields such as UF_1, UF_2, and UF_3 are custom fields and may be used differently depending on your iMIS configuration and activity setup.
If your organization has custom iMIS activity structures, additional mapping adjustments may be required.
Step 3 - Configure CE Activity Templates
CE activity templates determine how a user qualifies for credits and the event that triggers the CE Write back.
In Webcastcloud Admin, Navigate to:
Admin → Settings → Education
If you do not already have a CE Activity Template configured, please follow this guide first: Create a CE Activity Template
Once a template has been created, it can be assigned to videos to define the completion requirement for awarding credits.
Typical templates may include:
CPD Template – 90% Watched
Users receive credits when they watch 90% or more of the video.CPD Template – Quiz Pass 80%
Users receive credits when they pass the quiz with a score of 90% or higher, within the number of retakes that have been set.
These settings allow you to define how strictly the activity must be completed before credits are awarded.
Step 4 — Configure Credits on a Video
To enable credit write-back on a video, configure the following fields.
Content Type
WEBINAR
This identifies the activity type sent to iMIS. The name of the 'Content Type' must match the iMIS Activity name.
Credits
Enter the CPD/CE credit value awarded when the activity is completed.
Example:
1.0
CE Activity Template
Select the template that defines the completion requirement.
Example options:
CPD Template – 90% Watched
CPD Template – Quiz Pass 90%
How Credit Write-Back Works
A user watches a video or completes a quiz.
The system checks whether the completion requirements have been met.
When the analytics job runs, completed activities are processed.
The CE activity data is sent to iMIS via the configured API endpoint.
The credit activity appears in the user's iMIS activity record.
Verifying Credits Were Sent Successfully
When CE credits have been successfully written back to iMIS, you will see a ✓ (tick) in the Video Analytics for that user within the Webcastcloud Admin portal.
This indicator confirms that:
The user met the required completion criteria (e.g., percentage watched or quiz pass rate), and
The CE credit activity was successfully sent to iMIS.
You can view this by navigating to the Video Analytics for the relevant webinar or video and reviewing the user activity list. The tick icon confirms the write-back process has completed successfully for that user.
Important Note - Webinar Activity with no CE Credits
If a user completes a webinar or video but CE credits should not be sent to iMIS, the video should still have the Credits field set to 0.
Setting the value to 0 ensures the activity is still processed correctly by the analytics job, without awarding CE credits.
Alternatively, you may choose to use a different credit type instead of your standard CPD credit. For example, a “Participation” credit type can be configured and assigned within your CE Activity Template if you wish to record attendance without awarding CPD units.
