In Webcastcloud Live Studio, if you're experiencing crashes in Chrome while using the Chrome Screenshare feature, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Step 1: Disable Graphics Acceleration in Chrome
-
Open Chrome Settings:
- Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of Chrome.
- Select Settings from the dropdown.
-
Search for Acceleration:
- Use the search bar at the top of the settings page to search for "acceleration."
-
Turn Off Use Graphics Accelerations When Available:
- Locate the toggle for Use hardware acceleration when available (or Use graphics acceleration when available in newer versions).
- Switch the toggle to Off.
-
Relaunch Chrome:
- After disabling hardware acceleration, click the Relaunch button that appears.
- Alternatively, close all open Chrome tabs and restart the browser manually.
If disabling graphics acceleration resolves the issue, it is likely related to your computer's hardware or resource limitations. It does suggest that:
- Your current hardware or drivers are not fully optimized for Chrome’s hardware acceleration features.
- Additional GPU or CPU load during screensharing is too much for your system in its current state.
Step 2: Check PC Resources
-
Monitor CPU and Memory Usage:
- Open your Task Manager (Windows: Press
Ctrl + Shift + Esc
, macOS: Use Activity Monitor). - Check if your CPU or memory usage is unusually high, especially during screensharing.
- Close unnecessary applications or browser tabs to free up resources.
- Open your Task Manager (Windows: Press
-
Free Up GPU Resources:
- If your PC has a dedicated graphics card, ensure no other high-demand applications (e.g., video games or rendering software) are running.
- Update your graphics drivers to the latest version.
Step 3: Update Chrome to the Latest Version
- Open Chrome’s menu (three dots in the top-right corner).
- Go to Help > About Google Chrome.
- Chrome will automatically check for updates and prompt you to restart if needed.
Step 4: Clear Chrome’s Cache
- Open Chrome’s menu and go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear browsing data.
- Select Cached images and files and click Clear data.
- Restart Chrome and try screensharing again.
Step 5: Test in Incognito Mode
- Open a new Incognito window in Chrome by selecting Settings >New Incognito Window (or
Ctrl + Shift + N
orCmd + Shift + N
on macOS). - Log in to Webcastcloud Live Studio and test screensharing.
- If it works in Incognito, a browser extension might be interfering (see Step 6).
Step 6: Disable Chrome Extensions
- Go to chrome://extensions/ in your browser.
- Disable extensions one by one to identify any conflicting plugins.
- Restart Chrome after disabling suspicious extensions and try screensharing again.
Step 7: Restart Your Computer
- Save any open work and restart your computer to clear temporary files or resource locks.
- Relaunch Chrome and retry screensharing in Webcastcloud Live Studio.
Step 8: Try a Different Browser
If the issue persists, try using an alternative browser like Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) or Firefox to determine if the issue is Chrome-specific.
Step 9: Check Internet Connection
- Ensure your internet connection is stable with a speed test tool.
- Use a wired Ethernet connection if possible, as it’s more reliable than Wi-Fi.
